celebration

Charles Orr - my Granddad, passed away early last week.  There are a lot of fun stories to hear and remember about Granddad.  He eloped to marry my Grandma Katie, he served in the navy as a medic.  There are some amazing stories about his military service.  With his division during WWII, he made landings on Iowa Jima, Saipan and Tinian.  He received several awards including the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Starts, and the Purple Heart.  Psalm 103  what Granddad wanted read at his funeral.  You should read it soon!  Maybe daily.  It's awesome (of course - it is bible).
We had a great celebration of Granddad's life over the last couple days in Springfield, Missouri.  Granddad was a bow tie man - I never saw him in any other kind of neck tie.  All the men (and a few others) wore Granddad's neck ties to his funeral.  We were asked to keep them - it is such an honor to have.  And, I really like the look.  Maybe Kirk will convert to a neck tie kind of man! :)
I love my Granddad very much, and can't wait to see him in heaven!

Uncle Phil (South Carolina), Aunt Becky (New York), mom (Iowa), Uncle Paul (Colorado)

Elijah took a nap at the church.  Sleeping on Grace's coat, using Sophia's coat as a blanket.  So relaxed.  Chillin' with the bow tie!
On the way home today we made a Menard's stop so Kirk could get some building supplies.  I couldn't help but put my kids in this giant lawn chair for a picture.  They thought it was pretty cool as well.
