My family has been on the road a lot lately! Starting last Wednesday we loaded up the van with Grace, Sophia, Elijah, Omar, Kirk, and myself and headed towards New York for my cousins wedding. We spent the first night in Pennsylvania about 12 hours from home. The next morning we continued our trek to New York and stopped at Pocono International Raceway (those pictures are on a different memory card - and will be coming soon hopefully). We then made it to Beacon, NY and had a really fun night at the Hudson Valley Renegades baseball game for the rehearsal dinner of Brian and Joan's wedding.
Friday was a free day for vacationing... so Kirk, Omar, and I decided to go zip lining in New York. It was great, and we had great tour guides.
Saturday was the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding - and my family got all dressed up, which was really fun.

Sunday we headed to NYC by way of the train.
Then Monday morning we headed back into the van for the trip home. Becky was doing laps around the hotel with all the kids while we packed up the van. :)
We decided to drive all 18 hours in one shot... the kids did great, but Elijah was "all done" about 5 hours into the trip. We got home about 2:30 am on Tuesday morning. We finished the night in our own beds - it was wonderful!
Wednesday morning (about 30 hours after we got home) the kids and I decided to go to Grandpa & Grandma Puttmann's for the annual 4th of July celebration. It was a warm one - so the kids put on their swimsuits and played in the sprinkler and with squirt guns. After supper the fire works fun began. All went very well with one minor burn on Sophia's hand. Her sparkler fell out of the water bucket and she picked it up to put in back in the bucket and grabbed the hot part. Two small blisters - but lots of tears.
Friday we met Grandpa Frank in Pierson and joined him in the semi to go get a load of corn. The girls had fun playing in the sleeper cab, and helping Grandpa whenever they got the chance.
Friday night we went out to eat with Donnie, Bobbi, Addison, Brady, Grandpa Frank, and my family. It was yummy, especially ending it with the Ice Cream store there in LeMars - the ice cream capital of the world :).
Saturday morning we headed to St. Joseph, Missouri to my sister's place. We celebrated Kane's birthday on Saturday. Here's a cute picture of Elijah playing with Grandpa's hat on the way to MO. Peek-a-boo!
At one point all the kids were sleeping - that didn't really happen to much, even with the many hours of driving we had. Good think kids necks are make of rubber, otherwise we would have had a lot of head aches and stiff necks over the last two weeks!
At Becky & Matt's house, they set up a double slip-in-slide. The kids had a blast with it! Both of them have pretty good bruises on their hips, but fun was had by all!
Grace looks so different without her glasses on. Do you think she will be a contact girl when she gets older?
Saturday we celebrated Kane's 1st birthday, and then we headed home, again. :) We got home around 7:30 pm. It was an awesome couple weeks of being with family, but I am happy to be home. Unfortunately the cleaning fairy didn't come when I was gone, s
o I have plenty to catch up on.
Swimming lessons start tomorrow. Grace is pretty nervous, Sophia doesn't really know what to expect. Hopefully all will go well!
